The IATF, an organization of automobile manufacturers and related industry associations, published on April 1, 2024, a new sixth edition of guidelines for certification to the IATF 16949 standard.
NOTE: organizations have until the end of this year (2024) to implement the new edition of the IATF rules!
The new document is available in twelve languages and is binding on IATF-recognized certification bodies. However, some requirements should be implemented by all IATF 16949-certified organizations.
What changes will we find in the sixth edition of the IATF Rules?
- A detailed explanation of the various IATF processes and concepts that will provide a better understanding of IATF requirements.
- Enhance knowledge of the application, auditing and certification process for IATF 16949.
- Improved IATF 16949 certification scheme and revised qualification requirements.
- Adding approach processes and requirements, such as new contact requirements between certification bodies and their customers.
- Include sanctioned interpretations (SI) and frequently asked questions (FAQ).
The link to the official pages where the standard can be purchased is on the IATF website.
Let’s also remember that in order to achieve the goal of the IATF 16949 standard (prevention of defects and elimination of losses) one of the basic tools we need to use is FMEA, which you can learn more about in our articles.
